Rodrigo Samia is a Brazil-based Director of Photography | Cinematographer working on feature, short films, documentaries, commercial/contents and music videos.
Rodrigo Samia graduated in Cinema and Video from Faculdade de Artes do Paraná (FAP). As a director, he has made films such as GOOD NIGHT, GOOD DREAMS, screened at the 13th International Super 8 Film Festival in Curitiba, THE SKY IS THE LIMIT, and the documentary DORIGO BROTHERS.
As a cinematographer, he worked on the international documentary GENERATION VAX, directed by American Mitchell Farkas for Chinese television. Samia has also collaborated on feature films such as 200 MINUTES (OF SOMETHING I DIDN’T FEEL), which received an Honorable Mention for Best Feature Film at the California International Film Festival, and the documentary feature BEHIND THE STORY, directed by Sabrina Bogado.
He has also worked on several short films, including IF THEY WERE THE SEA, for which Rodrigo Samia received the Best Cinematography Award at the Festival Pode Ponto Cine; the film also won Best Short Film at five Brazilian festivals and was an Official Selection at the Busan International Film Festival (South Korea) and the Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes (Brazil), in addition to other projects such as MACBETH XXI, selected for the Shakespeare Lives Festival 2016 in the United Kingdom, and CHICO CAME BACK ALONE, available on the Globoplay streaming platform.
As director of photography, Rodrigo Samia has also worked on projects such as REFLECTIONS (Seasons I and II), a talk show, in addition to music videos, commercials, branded content, and special projects including AGING (a dance film) and CAGE (video art), for which he served as photographic advisor. The project was exhibited at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum.
